Virtual production in Jamaica: how it works and what you can shoot.

Virtual production puts your presenter or product in front of a virtual background or set instead of a real location. We film on a green or blue screen, key it out live on a Blackmagic Ultimatte 12 4K and combine the two in the control room, so you see the finished shot while you film.

The background can also be your own building. For JDIC, we filmed backgrounds inside their building and placed about 20 staff in front of them in the studio.

For Long Story Short, Hon. Douglas Orane, CD, JP tells his life story from the places it happened, recreated as virtual sets behind him in the studio.

Location shoot or studio shoot: an illustration

On location: Ten location sets. A 20-person crew. A production bus. Permits, travel and weather to plan around.

At Adtelligent Studios: One studio. A lean crew. Ten virtual sets. Shot in days.

An illustration of the approach, not a real job or a price.

Bring your own crew

Agencies and in-house teams may bring their own crew and use the studio, equipment and technical support.

Questions

What is virtual production?

We film you on a green or blue screen and key you live onto a virtual background or set, so you see the finished shot while you film.

Is it green screen or an LED wall?

Green screen. We are not an LED wall studio. Green screen suits presenters, interviews and podcasts.

Can we see the finished shot while we film?

Yes. The control room shows the composite live, with five seats for your team.

Can we use our own building as the background?

Yes. We can film backgrounds in your building and use them behind your presenter in the studio, as we did for JDIC.

Can I direct the shoot from overseas?

Yes. We shoot in Kingston, Jamaica, and you direct remotely. We start with a 15-minute remote test.

What equipment do you use?

Live keying on a Blackmagic Ultimatte 12 4K, the Canon EOS C400 6K and Aputure lighting.

What do you deliver?

Masters as 4K ProRes or 1080p MP4, for TV, social media, YouTube, Zoom and internal channels. We can also stream live from the control room.

How long is a studio day?

A standard studio day is 10 hours, with overtime after that.

Can we bring our own crew?

Yes. Agencies and in-house teams may bring their own crew and use the studio, equipment and technical support.

How much does it cost?

The Authority Session for professionals is US$2,500 plus GCT for ten finished videos. Everything else is quoted once we understand the scope.
